I had the good fortune to spend the weekend in Dusseldorf, Germany a few weeks ago while in the country for business.  From late November until Christmas, many German cities host Christmas Markets.  While the markets vary by city, generally they feature lots of good food, handmade crafts, and the hot spiced wine called Gluhwein.031

The main activity during the Christmas Market is to eat and drink.  There is a lot of good food available, many types that you can only get at the Christmas Market.  I noticed sausage, hot pretzels, roasted chestnuts, waffels, and chocolates.

Many people do their yearly Christmas shopping at the market.  There were over 500 stalls offering all sorts of products, many homemade.
